Met some cool people, swapped wheels at the border, traveled on Chineese train.

Vietnam was a country that I was apprehensive about before our arrival. Reading travel blogs and listening to other travelers, it seemed there were quite a bit of negatives stories about being scammed by kind old ladies, professional hackers, and everyone in between. Reportedly we were expected to bargain for everything – even food –…
End of delightful Day 2 of Thakhek Loop, we stopped in the Thong Lor village right outside the famous 7.5 km cave. The cave comes complete with a river, a boat trip, and is definitely worth the trip. As is the countryside in Thong Lor – just beautiful.
Taking a (grumpy) train from Nagano to stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan and bathe in the onsen baths (which were both delightful!)
We are joined by Sergey’s parents to wish him a very Happy Birthday on our first day in Thailand.
Jenia and our friend Nastya learn how to drive a scooter under Sergey’s patient guidance. Don’t worry we wear helmets on the road! it was just particularly hot that day and slow driving makes helmets oh so uncomfortable and itchy.
