4 o'clock Albania Destinations Europe

10 August 2014 – Kruje, Albania

August 10, 2014

On our last day in Albania we decided on a little day trip from Tirana to Kruje Castle, the bastion of the most eulogized national hero: Skanderbeg. Skanderbeg was an Albanian noble  who led a resistance movement – with some success – to the Ottoman Empire in mid 15th century. Pretty neat historical stuff. The castle also features an ethnographic museum designed to provide a look at “day in a life” and a reconstructed bazaar with souvenirs.
