Hands down our favorite day in Myanmar — there is something very magical about Hpa-an countryside. Or maybe it was all in the timing — who knows. But we wished we could’ve spent longer.

Epic celebration of Songkran, otherwise known as Pi Mai, in Savannakhet, Laos. All towns, villages, and cities up and down Laos take the three day New Year holiday with utmost devotion – much water is poured, probably as much Beer Lao is consumed, and everyone is out to have a good time. Climbing defense towers around upper Omalo, Tusheti – fun even in the rain. Earlier in the day we visited picturesque village of Dartlo, at the time it was nice and sunny, or at least not rainy. Regardless, another day of adventure in the wilds of Tushseti.
Nobuhiko, our host, took us to check out a local beach. Sad to leave Japan, it’s a magical place.
