30 August 2013 – Moscow, Russia
Dasha, my very very good friend from way way back, and Vitaliy, her boy, make an appearance as we discuss plans for joint venture in China, currently in Moscow, Russia.

Another look at the Mekong Waterfront in Nong Khai. The small border town really is delightful — and seems a world away from Laos. If you have a chance stay for a day or two, its pleasantly non-touristy.
Hanging out on a mountain — this time no hike, very easy and pleasant — hitched a ride to the chairlift (~8 km from Mestia) and then onwards and upwards by the mechanical wonder. The image is of mountain Ushba, which refused to part with the clouds on that day.
Climbing defense towers around upper Omalo, Tusheti – fun even in the rain. Earlier in the day we visited picturesque village of Dartlo, at the time it was nice and sunny, or at least not rainy. Regardless, another day of adventure in the wilds of Tushseti.
And we are off from Europe to Asia. Just crossed the bridge from one side of Istanbul to another. Still as exciting as ever (Jenia was in Istanbul in 2007, and crossing back and forth was a favorite )
A peak at cafe sitting in Tbilisi. Our favorite spot was Book Corner Cafe off the leafy Rustaveli Ave. Lovely homemade wine, wifi, and perfect ambiance to get some work done and skype with home.
Taking a (grumpy) train from Nagano to stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan and bathe in the onsen baths (which were both delightful!)
