Our first day exploring the Balkans. We are in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade — check out the statue of the victor, the confluence of Danube and Sava Rivers, and an old Belgrade fortress. Pretty neat stuff.

Just crossed the border from Aranyaprathet to Poipet and hopped on a bus to our first destination in Cambodia, Battambang. Here we are first few minutes in a new country. Cheers!

On our last day in Albania we decided on a little day trip from Tirana to Kruje Castle, the bastion of the most eulogized national hero: Skanderbeg. Skanderbeg was an Albanian noble who led a resistance movement – with some success – to the Ottoman Empire in mid 15th century. Pretty neat historical stuff. The castle…
Talking about this and that – getting scammed, you know the usual. We didn’t know it at the time, but we were under massive culture shock in Delhi, India.
A walk around downtown Belgrade – a pretty church, an awesome guide, and plenty of sunshine – what more could you ask for?! Day 2 of the Balkans tour wraps up our time in Serbia.
Sergey checks in for the 4 o’clock from Bangkok Dental Hospital where he has been spending every afternoon this week getting his root canal re-d0ne (after a not so nice job in the US). Ah Thailand, even your dentist offices are nicer than elsehwere in the world (ahem).
