Istanbul’s best hidden gem tourist attraction — the Rumeli Fortress. Rumeli features ample opportunities to climb, to stroll in the shade, to picnic, and best of all magnificent views of the Bosphorous — all of this with almost no other tourists. This being the height of tourist season – is nothing short of a miracle. Three cheers for the Rumeli Fortress.
A short stop at the very holy Alaverdi Monastery, dating back to the 6th century. Rahter beautiful and peaceful, the monastery also features a wine cellar — common for religious buildings all across Georgia. The country is known to have invented wine making after all.
On the bus back from our hike up to Mt Emei. Back to Chengdu for the third time.
On our third day in Moscow, we visit the Elokhovsky Cathedral — one of the oldest in Moscow, and at one point (during Soviet times) served as the main or patriarchal Cathedral of Russia. A very spiritual 4 o’clock to you.
We’ve made it past the guard dogs, hiked up the stream, criss crossed the forest, and climbed high high above Mazeri for this little dinky lake. Oh well. Still pretty gorgeous. Another great day hiking around Mazeri.
