Sabadee Pee Mai! Splash…the water – as if in slow motion – drains down my shirt. Before I know it, my face is smeared in talcum powder. Not that I expected to be spared. In fact, I had hoped I wouldn’t be. It’s just that first trickle of water was a bit jarring, that’s all….
Goodbye China! It’s been real. More than a month (if you count 5 days in Beijing). Amazing country. But time for us to go explore the wonders of Southeast Asia. Starting with Bangkok, Thailand. (As an aside — SriLankan = awesome).
Day 6 of our motorcycle journey brings us to the village of Phong Nha. A cluster of humongous caves is a relatively new addition to the tourist map in Vietnam. Its definitely a worthwhile stop – both for the caves and the scenery – especially if you are traveling by motorbike.
Taking a (grumpy) train from Nagano to stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan and bathe in the onsen baths (which were both delightful!)
The minute we walked out of the airport and onto the subway bound for center of Budapest – I knew it. This was my city. Sometimes you just get that feeling. Very rarely is it wrong. And this time, this feeling grew and expanded until I was about to burst – that’s when we walked…
