9 August 2014 – Tirana, Albania
A tree top view of Tirana from our Airbnb rooftop. We had such a lovely time in Albanian capital!

We take the “bus” (aka minivan) from Ha Tien to Can Tho — the supposedly 5 hour ride is more like 6, with frequent pit stops to drop off and pick up passengers and goods. Though long, and short on comfort, there is quite interesting scenery as the bus passes through small settlements and towns…
Taking the slow-boat (16 hours!) from Mandalay to Bagan. So many fascinating interactions and views in one day.
Is it surprising that Albania is a great destination for castle hopping? Like, really great. Albania is not a large country, and there are by no means countless historic fortresses and edifices — which means that castle sightseeing is not overwhelming, there’s no FOMO, or castle fatigue. Another huge plus – you don’t have to have a PhD…
On our third day in Moscow, we visit the Elokhovsky Cathedral — one of the oldest in Moscow, and at one point (during Soviet times) served as the main or patriarchal Cathedral of Russia. A very spiritual 4 o’clock to you.
Hanging out on the train as we journey from Wuhan to Chengdu. We purchased “hard sleep” births, which are equivalent to Russia’s third class, “platskart.”
Visiting the Nahargarh Fort overlooking Jaipur. Unfortunately we have pretty dismal views from the Durg cafe. Oh well, at least they have beer.
