8 April 2014 – En route, Vietnam
A fishing village by the Mui Ne beach in Vietnam. Incredibly picturesque. Also, how cool are the round fishing boats used by Vietnamese fishermen? Harder to steer, but less likely to tip over. You win some, you lose some…Day 2 of our easy rider tour!

7 April 2014 – Đại Nam Văn Hiến, Vietnam
A visit to the Golden Pagoda and the Dai Nam Van Hien complex about 40 minutes outside Saigon. This place is incredible – a ginormous theme park based on Vietnamese culture and history. No filming allowed inside the actual pagoda, but there is fascinating displays of lady buddahs and a golden statue of Ho Chi

6 April 2014 – Saigon, Vietnam
Did you know that admission to Skydeck at Bitexco tower in Saigon – also known as the tallest building in Vietnam – costs 200,000 dong? Meanwhile, you can enjoy an iced coffee for only (!) 120,000 dong one floor higher (floor 50) at the EON cafe. Or order a beer for 160,000 dong. You know,

5 April 2014 – Saigon, Vietnam
There is an incredible culture of “hidden” indie cafes in Saigon. These cafe establishments look like they were transplanted from Brooklyn, but in a cool twist they are actually impossible to find unless you know the exact address and directions — which usually go something like this: walk into an alley off street y, pass

4 April 2014 – Saigon, Vietnam
We visit the War Remnants museum in Ho Chi Minh City (better known as Saigon). Here’s a tip for you – go in the morning, as early as you can — the museum hours are 7:30 am – noon and 1:30 – 5 pm. The War Remnants museum is probably one of the most popular

3 April 2014 – Saigon, Vietnam
A bird’s eye view of the city from Saigon Sheraton. A very enjoyable happy hour on the terrace at sunset (from 4 to 7 pm) – two for one cocktails and beers.

2 April 2014 – Can Tho, Vietnam
A motorbike taxi (xe om) is the preferred way of getting around in Vietnam’s cities. We took a xe om in Can Tho at rush hour (a slightly delayed 4 o’clock) 😉 with our CS host Tran. Thoroughly recommend the experience, should cost about 20,000 dong($1) anywhere in the center for this rush of excitement.

1 April 2014 – En route to Can Tho, Vietnam
We take the “bus” (aka minivan) from Ha Tien to Can Tho — the supposedly 5 hour ride is more like 6, with frequent pit stops to drop off and pick up passengers and goods. Though long, and short on comfort, there is quite interesting scenery as the bus passes through small settlements and towns

31 March 2014 – Ha Tien, Vietnam
Toboggan ride to the top of the mountain overlooking the Gulf of Thailand? Awesome! Ride down — thrilling! We had a really awesome time in Ha Tien, our first stop in Vietnam.

30 March 2014 – Rabbit Island, Cambodia
All aboard the tourist boat, departing Rabbit island, Cambodia. The easiest island trip we’ve ever taken. Sad to say goodbye to Cambodia on our last full day in the country. We met a bunch of teenagers hanging out on Rabbit island for the weekend, and they wanted us to let everyone know to come and

29 March 2014 – Rabbit Island, Cambodia
Day 2 on Rabbit Island, Cambodia. Not much to report, just that there are plenty of hammocks for naps. So you should go, and stay awhile 😉

28 March 2014 – Rabbit Island, Cambodia
Marooned on a desert island in the Gulf of Island…almost. Rabbit Island is a neat little getaway, only 30 minutes by boat from Kep. There are plenty of huts to rent for a few days. No wifi on the island, which makes for lots of reading, writing, and reflecting time.
