18 December 2013 – Bagan, Myanmar

Shopping for lacquerware at a family-run workshop (3 generations back we were told) outside of Bagan, Myanmar. The work that these guys put into these pieces is astounding. Each piece is covered with seven to 18 (!) layers of lacquer, with drying time of around a week in between each. The artisans stencil and etch all designs by hand in between the layers.
