Meeting up with a Hungarian friend, Mr Peter – whom we met while in Myanmar – in Moscow.
A nice view there, eh? Sergey’s aunt and uncle flat in Moscow.
Back to the motherland for us — we flew via St Petersburg and got to spend a couple of exciting hours exploring the city with our new friend that we met in Georgia, actually. Here we are (sans the friend at that point) on the tram.
Another night time walk around Tbilisi, this time by the holy trinity cathedral in the Avlabari neighborhood. Our last day in this wonderful city.
Walking route to Jvari church from Mtskeheta turned out to be super simple – despite the guidebook threatening us with a hard and tedious trek. Totally worth it too considering taxis were trying to charge something ridiculous like $10. Views are a bonus )
Walking around Avlabari, aka the Armenian neighborhood, in Tbilisi, Georgia.
A walk around downtown Tbilisi, a look at the Freedom Square.
Hanging out in Tbilisi on the historic day of the country’s signing of an association agreement with the EU. It was pretty unreal – fireworks, concerts, people celebrating everywhere.
Night time view of Tbilisi from the Narikala fortress.
Most definitely our worst, most dangerous transport day on this trip. Welcome to Georgia, where a bus ticket gets you a seat in a private minivan from hell – otherwise known as our epic 9 hour, 3 different buses commute from Mestia to Tbilisi.
Another beautiful hike around Mestia, Georgia. This time we made our way up past the airport to climb atop the most unreal hill of wild flowers.
