13 August 2014 – Istanbul, Turkey
Hanging out with some of our faves, also known as best hosts ever, in Istanbul. You learn to appreciate the days of doing nothing after one year on the road. Especially those days spent by the pool.

YOU GUYS! ITS OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! We celebrate with a stroll in one of the most magnificent cities in the world – Istanbul. From Europe to Asia and back — we’ve made it one year and we’ve got a video to show for it.
And we are off from Europe to Asia. Just crossed the bridge from one side of Istanbul to another. Still as exciting as ever (Jenia was in Istanbul in 2007, and crossing back and forth was a favorite )
On our last day in Albania we decided on a little day trip from Tirana to Kruje Castle, the bastion of the most eulogized national hero: Skanderbeg. Skanderbeg was an Albanian noble who led a resistance movement – with some success – to the Ottoman Empire in mid 15th century. Pretty neat historical stuff. The castle…
A tree top view of Tirana from our Airbnb rooftop. We had such a lovely time in Albanian capital!
A peak at our favorite cafe in Tirana — Mulliri Vjeter, and a walk in the youth park about 10 minutes from Skanderbeg square. Tirana might not be the prettiest capital in Europe, but it sure has nice vibe: people round these parts love to hang, eat fabulous food, and enjoy a pretty good cup of…
Another day in Albania, another amazing beach. Lukove beach is close to Saranda – maybe 20 minutes by car. Pristine shoreline, beautiful weather, and crystal clear Adriatic sea. Can life get better?
Albanian coastline continues to amaze us. These gorgeous views are from the Saranda castle restaurant – aka Kalaja e Lëkurësi. I am not sure I’ve seen anything like this ever before — simply stunning. Oh, and happy birthday Diton and Christina!
The gorgeousness of Borsh beach in Albania is really, really hard to portray. You can watch all the videos you like, stare at your pictures — its not quite that. It is unreal. Highly recommend making this Ionian Sea destination a priority.
A very scenic view of an old Albanian town of Berat, situated on the river Osum. This video is shot from 13th century Berat castle, which was a fascinating place to visit.
Our first day in Albania — the arrival was kind of tough as we just stepped off an 8 hour bus ride. First look at the capital, Tirana, through those lens 😉
Whistle blow tour of the Balkans continues with a one day stop in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Downtown is quite fascinating, if controversial. Apparently the current government has recently embarked on a nation building campaign by populating the main town areas with statues of ‘national’ heroes – resulting in a bit of an amusement park…
